Shopping for 18” rims for my 01.
I’d like to stay close to the same offset as my current aftermarket 17’s.
Hoping someone can verify.
American Racing ATX rims. 17x9J 55779Q-2
Looks like -2 mm to me.
What say you?
Thank you.
Instead of scour the market for rare nice wheels that fit pre-05 SDs, I added spacers from Lenny Stahl at Motorsport Tech (Wheel Adapters, Wheel Spacers, Hub Rings for your car! | Motorsport Tech) which allows me to run any 05-up wheel. I also added 2" taller lift blocks in the back and +2"/+200lb coils from Coil Spring Specialties for a surprisingly low cost. That all lets me run 20" takeoffs with 34" tires from a 2017 F350 KR. It's an attractive chrome wheel if I ever clean them up but the 20s give a jiggly ride. I suppose if you're a young man with a hot date passenger you might enjoy that though.
That works. They look like good quality spacers. Takeoffs won’t meet my needs.
I’m after a wider wheel than stock. I have a 6” Kelderman lift and presently have 17x9’s. 35x12.5’s. Moving up to 18’s I can stay the same width while increasing my weight load. I’m not going to find takeoffs in that size. I’m pretty much stuck buying new.
I have the room in the wheel well. To much backspace and it looks like they’d hit the steering knuckle.
I did find an old post where they’re running 9 wides with -12mm offset and 4.5” backspace, which is a 1/4” over stock. I’d like to confirm that.
I had those takeoffs sitting around so it was easy and free, except the spacers. I went for steel spacers for more strength. The man's name is Lenny Stahl btw, not Stan. I corrected that above. He's the boss now, and his dad who started the company works part time. Good guys. I used their adapters to dually our E350 too, but she never hauls heavy or tows so I used aluminum spacers there. I also have his steel spacers on my 350 drw so I can run 285s all around.
Ever see a railroad truck? I hate the look. Give me wide stance...
