New engine, header question

I know this has been talked about before many times, but I can't seem to find a thread that applies to my particular situation.

I'm nearly ready to drop a new engine in my 68 F-250, 2wd, manual steering. I have removed the aux gas tank. This is a 410 FE built for torque with stock iron heads. I'm thinking of running 2.5" dual exhaust (I don't like loud exhaust) but I'm open to suggestions if that seems too restrictive.

I'm looking at ceramic coated headers:
Sanderson shorties, 3" collectors, at $615 - The Sandersons seem to be favorites, from the threads I've read, but they're a little pricey.
Flowtech long tubes 2.5" collectors at $420 - Is there any reason I shouldn't go for the cheaper Flowtechs?

Any recommendations from experience?

I ran Headman headers on my 410 - with a 4WD there were a few different fitment issues than a 2WD, but I think the ones I had work for both 4WD and 2WD. I did have mine ceramic coated, but sadly could not use them with the 445 I build because the heads had CJ ports and were larger than the exhaust flange, plus used 4 bolts.

Nothing wrong with the cheap ones except the flanges are a little thinner. If you use good gaskets, or double gasket them (as we did) they won't leak, although the flanges were bent a little after I torqued them down.

The main fitment problem is usually on the passenger side where the collector terminates over the crossmember.
Get a muffler shop to make up a ball socket connection. I have used that style door when I had a 460 in my 68 and with the present Coyote set up.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback. I think I'm going to give the Flowtechs a try.

I have a 410 in my 66 and bought the Flowtechs but they wont fit without the power steering engine stand on the DS. You say you have manual steering and you can check which stand you have by looking at the holes in the frame where it mounts. There are 3, if your stand is bolted to the front 2 you will be good to go, if the 2 holes on the firewall side are used you will need to find the correct stand.
Here is a article that shows the stands.
