Help with Headers

Hey everyone. I have a 75 F150 SuperCab 2wd automatic that came stock with the 360, but now has the 460 in it. I have some coupons that I would like to use before they expire to purchase some headers, but I'm not sure what would fit best. I want someone that I can bolt on myself, but all the full length headers I'm coming across online (Advance Auto Parts) are saying they wont fit. I'm not looking for top notch headers, just something to replace my broken and leaky exhaust that would also allow me to bolt on some new mufflers in the future. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

2wd and 460....L&L, Maddog, Hedeman, Flowtech, Hooker, Sanderson... since it is a 2wd I really do not have any experience.

But inside the frame rail exit with the trans cross member right there might be a PITA. It is on a F150 4wd for sure.

Fenderwell exit is the way to go IMO.

I'm pretty sure I would have to get a lift to exit through the fender correct? I just want something that exits the compartment the same as it does now. It has the stock shorty headers on it right now, but I want full length if possible.

Maybe a body lift or at least an inner fenderwell trim job. If you have shorties on it now then get better brand shorties.

Full length will probably exit right in front of your cross member. Better have a good exhaust guy on call.

If you are planning to replace your shorty headers with long tube headers you will have to make modifications to your exhaust routing. I only mention it because you said bolt on yourself - and while the header may bolt to the engine without issue you will need to do exhaust mods.

As for brands, I recently installed a set of BBK shorty headers on my F-100 and I really like them. I second 77&79 on his recommendations and Summit is awesome even if you are just reading the reviews.

Just out of curiosity, why are you looking to go with long tube? If your setup is mostly stock, you don't really need them. When I was installing mine I did a lot of research online and it talked me out of the long tube (but i understand the appeal) One of the things I found to be most important is the flange thickness. Apparently a lot of the less expensive headers have thin flanges and like to warp.

Good Luck!
