Finally got my 54 running better today. It has a 239 y-block and a pertronix coil and module instead of points. I had it running good and since the engine has been sitting awhile i poured some seafoam through carb and let set for an hour or so. When i went to start it back up it would not start even with gas poured down carb it wouldn't even act like it would. I check coil and it was firing good and spark plug wires where also firing good and fuel pump was good. What are some other things that i could check as i am getting fuel and spark but engine is not even attempting to start. I would not think pouring seafoam in carb would cause it not to start back up and if i am pouring gas down carb why would it not attempt to start. Thanks
Try removing the spark plugs and turning it over with the starter for several seconds, maybe let it set a while or overnight. Check for good spark at a grounded plug, re-install plugs etc. Vroom! Go for a beer.
If you have fuel, spark, and compression, that's all you need, as long as timing is still okay. If it was running well before you poured the Seafoam into it, and nothing else changed, that's probably all it was, just flooded.
