89 f150 speedometer cable
CABLE IS TICKING AT LOW SPEED,TOOK CABLE OFF AT TRANSMISSION TRIED TO PULL OUT BUT FEELS LIKE WILL NOT RELEASE.DO I NEED TO PULL OFF INST. PANEL? IF SO ,MUCH OF A JOB? TRUCK IS AUTO,WITH CRUSE IF IT MATTERS. THANKS IN ADVANCE. MIKE

If you hear the ticking sound from the cab, it is a good chance that the cable that comes from the cruise control to the speedo is where the problem is. It sounds like all you need to do is pull the cable out and lube it with a lubriplate type of grease. good luck.

I sure that you will need to remove the inst. cluster to release the speedo cable from the head. Pull cable out, lube and reinstall.
