If I change the battery do I need to tell the truck there is a new battery in there? I've heard yes and I've heard no. Heard the truck will still treet the battery as if its 5 years old even though its new and holds a better charge.
You don't need a laptop. You can use a Windows desktop if your USB cable and/or Bluetooth can reach the truck.

We changed the battery a couple weeks ago, and did not do anything special.

Welcome to FTE dannac,

I wouldn’t buy another Motorcraft. Buy the largest group size that will fit Which is a 94R H7.

I purchased the Duralast last year ... Jun 2022.

Knew nothing about battery reset and BMS stuff .... having trouble since.

Just got Forscan last couple weeks and trying to get an understanding.

Thanks for reply.

Try disconnecting you battery for at least 8 hours first, both pos and neg terminals. Once you do that, tun the headlight switch on and leave it on to remove any residual voltage. Doing so will reset the BMS. Then, since the battery is disconnected, take it back to Auto Zone and have it load tested.

Will give it a try .... just disconnected and will leave overnight.

Volts before disconnecting showed 12.37 ... after 12.48.

I've read somewhere, may have been this forum ... should change the battery type with Forscan. ( beings I did not replace with same type )
Any advice or experience with that ?

No. But what that does is change the amount of time you alternator clutch is engaged, so changing it to the 22 value may help. If you drive at least 20 miles on the highway once or twice a week, you should be good though.

There is a much easier way to reset the BMS and it takes a LOT less time. Here ya go:Procedure must be carried out within 10 seconds:

1. Switch ignition on (don't start)

2. Pull and release high beam 5 times

3. Press and release brake pedal 3 times

4. If successful the battery light will flash 3 times within the next 15 seconds

5. BMS reset completed

It must have been my work email blocking it.

Tried it at home and it worked.

Thanks

Turn on Ford Pass Connectivity with Forscan?

I'm pretty new to this and have looked and haven't been able to find anything about turning on the connectivity for Ford Pass with Forscan and was wondering if that was an option. I have an '18 F150 STX. Also struggling with getting remote start going. Got it turn on in the dash and have tried lock, unlock, lock and also lock, lock, lock without it working. More interested in the Ford Pass part but at this point either would be helpful. Thanks for your help!

when we installed the Ford Pass app on our cells for our respective vehicles (2018 and 2019), all we had to do if I recall correctly was to input the VIN on the app and that was it.

When I did that it says my pickup does not have connectivity. I'm wondering if it is something that needs turned on or maybe I don't have the parts needed for it.
