I have the Edge Evolution 15001 installed in my. Truck. It’s the one that mounts in the dash pod. I’m considering getting a Hydra tuner . Will the edge still work as a monitor with the hydra installed?

If the Edge is a tuner, then no. I went thru this when I changed to a Hydra and Edge told me that you can have the Evolution "upgraded" for $100 to be a monitor. Basically, they dumb it down and take the programming aspect out of it.
Yes you can run the Hydra and use the edge for just a monitor, the Hydra chip overrides any program on the PCM so even if you had a tune on it, there wouldn't be a difference one you plug the Hydra in.
You’ve been told already but might as well give my input. Yes you still can, ive been doing it that way for 5 year now, works pretty well since i can use it to monitor stuff the truck already has sensors for and shows 4 readings on the screen at the same time
Yes you can run the Edge as a monitor and the Hydra for tuning. There are sometimes issues getting the edge to connect but you just have to install the Hydra first, then the Edge IIRC. I have had several customers do this.
Thanks!.. Is it really worth the upgrade from the Edge to the Hydra? I like how the truck drives in Tow mode with the Edge. I keep reading all the good reviews from the Hydra owners. It's all stock besides 4" exhaust and Banks ram air intake.
I've got a Hydra, it's cool but the 'free' tuning doesn't seem special at all. My buddy's SuperChips 1705 does as well or better, but it's way slow to change tunes and only has three of them.
I don't see the PHP Library of tunes as free, but I see them as included in the purchase price. They are good tunes and I prefer them over 1023 and Gear Head. Those are the only two tuners I have tried.
A big benefit of the Hydra is the tunes can be emailed and there are many choices of tuners out there to choose from.
If wireless is your thing, you can get a bluetooth adapter for the Hydra and not have the on dash controller. (May not be available any longer, see the posts below...)
Hydra is the best custom tune platform available to us at this time.
I have one too that I bought before they were discontinued at KT Performance years ago. Last time this subject came up I did a search and it looked like they were no longer available anywhere.
Did a search tonight (slow night at work) and found that Swamps has them listed and I added one to the cart just to see if I would get an "out of stock" message. Did not so maybe they actually have them.
I like it because I can set "No Start" on the app on my phone and there is no switcher or evidence of one on the dash. I tried hooking up my switcher each time I got in the truck and then disconnecting and hiding the cable but that got old. Now I just do it on my phone.
