Complete Electrical Loss???

My 1977 F150 4X4 died last night, son was driving. The electrical system is complete shutdown. The fuel pump works it is wired direct and if I jump starter solenoid it works but nothing else. He was driving is started back firing and died which I assume is due to loss of fire. I have no schematics or anything. Is there a main fuse for the truck or is it likely ignition switch?

Well, I found the issue. Bare spot in wire was shorting out against fender well.

Was it the large Black w/yellow stripe wire from the starter relay/solenoid up along the firewall? Or was it one of the battery cables?

No it was smaller wire, however it looked as though it may have shorted to a bigger black wire as well a fire wall. I couldnt actually see any bare wire on the bigger one but the insulation had been compromised

May be a good time to consider using a relay for the fuel pump? No disrespect intended, Just thinking out-loud.

Nothing wrong with the fuel pump, also fuel pump is fused and wired direct so it had nothing to do with this particular issue.
