Lol, you're right, I didnt catch that. You must live in a climate like I do, it rarely gets hot here. There are many places where I couldn't imagine not having AC. Even at 70 deg, I'm hittin the AC.
South east Indiana, it gets plenty hot here in the summer, I just learned to live with the heat and the kids get to deal with it too!
Moms van is new though and it gets used on longer trips to deal with the heat
Oops, posted this in wrong thread earlier. My two cents...
The storage under seat is nice. Not in the XL trim unless it's optioned with the XLT seat. I found this out when I was shopping leather seats. I guess having the STX option gives you the XLT interior. (2017 anyway, not sure if still that way on newer trucks)
I had the console in my 150 and missed having the extra seat and I also didn't like the cockpit feel it created. The console on bench seats is pretty good to me and usb add-on s are easy enough I don't miss them. Don't need the heat/cool option but I did like leather and adding that after the fact was much cheaper than factory option
(Ended up install ing Roadwire Leather)
Referring to the flip down seat back that serves as a console (storage area/cup holders) as opposed to the full floor console. Works great for my needs while still allowing extra seating.
I remember in years past there used to be seat consoles that were made to sit on the bench seats. Pretty useless things they were, wobbly and unstable and quite unatractive too.
I like the flexibility the fold down seat gives. The console only give one option, the fold down seat give you an arm rest, small cubby and if you need it a bench seat. Sometimes I use that bench seat space not for people but for stuff.
I thought the console looked nice, but lacked flexibility.
And whoever it was who said it makes it easy to lay down and take a quick road side rest nap when your eyes are fluttering,,, yes, when the need is there, yep.
Fold down seat back for me.
Love the bench seat "console" in my '17 STX. Plenty of room for my stuff in the compartment. It took me a year to find out that I could remove the headrest on the fold down middle seat, thanks to this forum. Didn't know you had to dig really deep to find the release, LOL.
Do the higher end models with the 40/20/40 have a little console in the flipped down seat back? My XLs have not. I had an old dodge that did though. Made it fairly functional.
40/20/40 for me! I like the extra leg room, and the flexibility to have another seat when needed. I just wish Ford would let me get the factory power running boards like I have on my ‘18 with the 40/20/40.

We have an XL with the jump seat, and yes, it has a console in the back of the seat.

The infamous jumpseat console in my STX. Not a bad rig really for a work truck or people hauler
If asking for opinions on resale I think it would hurt not having the console.
i absolutely wouldn’t even consider a truck with that, and even if it was stuffed with 100 dollar bills I’d be none the wiser as I would keep walking when I looked in the window.

Maybe its a regular cab or F150 thing. I’ve had 3 2016 F150 XLs; Regular cabs. Makes me want to go check the one I still have and make sure I am not crazy. The more I think I about it I remember a 2011 F250 XL vinyl I had and it DID have the flip up console.
Assuming it flips up as marked:
Your photo reminds me I need to yank the head rest off mine.
Joe T yes the circled lid does flip up to access a storage area. The bottom of the bench also raises up when the seat back is folded up, revealing additional storage. My seats and console are cloth, but have Rhinohide vinyl covers.
I had to special order the 40/20/40 on the lariat My truck does have heated and cooled seats so you can get those with the heated cooled seats, and I am pretty sure you can get the heated back seat also.
I have 4 kids so the 6 seater is necessary, The console looks nice but I have plenty of room in the seat back and the under seat storage is nice too. oh and you can probably get a small cooler in front of it. for utility even if I didn't have 4 kids I would still want the console.
that was one of the things that required me to special order my truck, its super hard to find a lariat without the console. I am glad I did though i got exactly the options I wanted to pay for. And the dealer gave me a great deal right out of the gate.
strike that, you cannot get the heated rear bench without the console for some reason, the front seats can still be heated and ventilated.
