I had the jump seat in my F150 and hated it. Just no space for anything and I really never used it as a seat. Each time you flip it up everything inside goes all over and becomes a mess. When I bought my F350, the console was a must. Have not regretted it at all.

You just gave me a flashback to the last truck I had. Never again.
We search for a truck that had the jump seat specifically. The arm rest in my Super Duty is better than the console I had in my F150 previously. We do have a big family and wanted another family vehicle that could fit all of us and this definitely does that. I haven't looked yet but is there any air ducting that does to the rear with the bench seat?
The 40/20/40 bench was the only regret in my build. When I ordered, I didn't realize all I was giving up by going with the extra seat. We wanted the seat because we have on occasion needed it for bringing friends along when camping, but not often enough to put up with with kids constantly complaining about the lack of heated seats AND the lack of AC in the back. I didn't do my homework and had falsely assumed the jump seat would still have vents in the back like my Ram did.
If it was just the heated seats, I'd just tell them to deal with it, they didn't have it in the Ram either. But with no AC, I have to crank the front AC, and then aim all the front vents at the back, to keep them from sweltering, and then I end up either sweltering (because I have it all aimed away from me) or freezing (if I aim some at me), just to keep them moderate. The heated/cooled seats help, but not enough. If you're going to have people in the back often, go with the console. If the backseat is only occasionally used, then the choice is yours.
When we got to the dealership I was not a fan of the bench seat at all and my wife said absolutely not. Her words were claustrophobic.

I guess the moral here is that it's very much personal preference. One person's cavern is another person's claustrophobic hell.
Oops, posted this in wrong thread earlier. My two cents...
The storage under seat is nice. Not in the XL trim unless it's optioned with the XLT seat. I found this out when I was shopping leather seats. I guess having the STX option gives you the XLT interior. (2017 anyway, not sure if still that way on newer trucks)
I had the console in my 150 and missed having the extra seat and I also didn't like the cockpit feel it created. The console on bench seats is pretty good to me and usb add-on s are easy enough I don't miss them. Don't need the heat/cool option but I did like leather and adding that after the fact was much cheaper than factory option
(Ended up install ing Roadwire Leather)

Do you realize that there's a floor duct under both the driver and passenger side front seats? Granted, the floor ducts seem to flow less air than the dash ducts but they do provide heated/cooled air to the back seat area. They are easily blocked by stuff that passengers may stash under there...like tissue boxes, gloves, etc.

Yep, but those run only when you have the heat / AC directed to the floor vents. Fine for heat in the winter but sucks for AC in the summer.
Not only does my 95 Ram extended cab not have rear windows you can open, it also doesn't have A/C, yet my kids don't complain one bit about being hot back there.
Either you guys live where it's really really hot or you've got a lot of whiney kids.

.
Have you not seen how cavernous the inside of a 17-20 crew cab is? Im sure it's a much larger area to cool than a 95 RAM extended cab.
You missed the part about no AC. And I don't mean no vents, I mean no AC period. Hasn't blown cold air in years.
The best they get is the front windows down and the rear window slid open.
Lol, you're right, I didnt catch that. You must live in a climate like I do, it rarely gets hot here. There are many places where I couldn't imagine not having AC. Even at 70 deg, I'm hittin the AC.
