New Member Intro

Hey all, I'm James. Finally decided to join the forum after owning my 2000 XLT for almost 2 years come April. I've had my most interesting experiences with it and currently enduring my least favorite experience but I can't complain. I've loved these rigs since I was 16 when I first saw one in 2000.

So about the rig, it's a 2000 XLT SSV, 6.8L V10 4x4. I presume it's the Special Services Vehicle package because the entire interior is blue for one. Secondly from the research I've seen and could be wrong, it was only the XL that had the blue interior which came with a front row bench, and I have the captain's chairs with center console in matching blue, powered driver's seat which is supposed to be an XLT thing.

I can't recall the exact mileage I bought the truck at but it was over 230k and I'm the 4th owner. Original owner being Enterprise Rent-A-Car which used it as their shuttle vehicle. Currently at 285,039 miles.

Bought it sitting on I guess is a 4 inch lift block in the rear and Super Duty leafs front and rear, not sure but every shop I've been at says it's a 4-6 inch lift. Came with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 glorified 35" tires on 18" wheels with the wrong backspacing because on full lock turns the tires rub the leaf springs.

Current plans are trying to decide if I want to get a new torque converter, since that's why I haven't driven it in about 3 months, get a reman 4r100 or a reman zf6 and install a third pedal.

I'm already a member of Excursion Club on Facebook and I have an Instagram and Facebook for the Excursion @notsemaworthy. I'll try to figure out the signature later.

The not so ugly side, yes the fender and frame dent came with it in the purchase.

Cobra 29 LX and Astatic 636L that were stolen out my truck, plus the blue interior

Towing my 3rd gen Explorer from Texas to Kansas

Mint third row bench seat in factory blue cloth, entire floor Rhino lined from front under the dashboard to rear barn doors.

Welcome!

I've got an Ex that's a first cousin of yours, 2000 6.8L 4x4. (It didn't come with the customized exterior decorating though, and it's a rather boring brown/beige interior.)

The first two things I had to do with my Ex were to replace most of the front end parts, followed quickly by replacing the torque converter. So I'd look at replacing yours as "expected maintenance".

You'll enjoy it here!

Denim Blue is your interior color, and kinda of rare actually.

Yea, it's rare enough I can't find parts for it. One of my ceiling vents broke and I can't find a replacement in that color. I have an extra tan from a friend but it just looks out of place 🤣

I have the XLT trim and it's all Medium graphite (Grey). I redid the seats and steering wheel in two tone blue/grey leather, the headliner in blue. I plan on doing the seat-belts to match and in the process I was constantly searching for denim blue interiors for various blue interior parts. Between junkyards and online I learned how rare the Denim Blue is now. I think 2000 was the last year for the blue.
