4R100 TC and shift problems
I have been having tranny issues with my 99 5.4 F250. When I put it in drive and add power, the truck starts to move, then it feels like the TC will try to lock. It nearly kills the engine, then it unlocks. It might do this twice to get moving. Once moving, I have some hard shifts. This happens at least half the time I drive it especially if I have it in L4. However, when working normally, I couldn’t be happier with the tranny.
I have searched the forums, and have heard of similar problems coming from a bad alternator letting AC current into the system and messing with speed sensors. So, when it started acting up, I unhooked the alternator. It worked fine. I hooked it back up, and it started messing up again. Great! My alternator was under warranty, so I got another remanufactured one even though my old one tested good. I put the new one on, and it did the same thing. I unhooked it and it worked fine.
Is there something I’m missing? I have to have the alternator but I also need to be able to drive the truck! Any help is greatly appreciated!Lincoln
