Last week after I shut off my vehicle to run into the store and came back it wouldn't start. Got a boost and it started fine but was only showing 10 volts. Went to auto store when put load on alternator vehicle died. Replaced alternator everything was fine for 5 days. Drove the vehicle 200 plus miles with no problem. This evening after I started I noticed that it was only putting out 8 volts so I parked it. My question is do you think I could have gotten a bad alternator or could something else be "frying" the alternator. Bought a reman from local auto parts store.
After being stranded, borrowing vehicles and buying another alternator the problem was simple. When I began to disconnect the wires from the "bad" alternator I went to grab the one with the spring clip and it wasn't even connected. I guess it didn't snap the other day when I installed it and it worked it ways loose. For once it was something simple for me. Remember to check those connections....
