100K Miles

Bought my 2013 F150 Limited about this time last year. It was a repo.
CarFax showed regular maintenance, no abuse that I can see or detect. Runs great.
Anyway, it just turned over 100k miles.
Is there any additional maintenance or checks that I need to do or consider doing at this point in it's life.
I have changed the plugs and kept up the regular maintenance. That's about it.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure then transmission is serviced. The 6r80 likes to stick solenoids with dirty fluid. It's a every 60k maintenance item.

Thanks for your reply. I'll do that. Do you suppose it would be good to switch to a "high mileage " oil at the next change?

I see no need to switch oils, continue with Fords 930a spec as originally called for.

At 100k I'd recommend engine coolant changed and differential fluids changed.

I'd also check the recommended 60k maintenance fluids since you did not own it then to know for sure if they were done. Transfer case and transmission(as previously mentioned by ford390gashog).

FYI...here is the maintenance items & frequency I have always done.....

Engine Management System

  • 100,000 Miles Oxygen Sensor Replace

Electronic Fuel Injection System

  • Annual Throttle Body & Assembly Inspect, Clean & Lubricate as Necessary
  • 6 Months Fuel Injectors Add BG Brand Fuel Injector Cleaner to Fuel Tank
  • 30,000 Miles Fuel Filter Replace

Cooling System

  • Annual Anode/Cathodic Protection Inspect (I have a magnesium anode in the overflow)
  • 5 Years Radiator Drain & Flush System
  • 5 Years Hoses Replace

Power Steering

  • 5 Years Hoses Inspect & Replace as Necessary
  • 30,000 Miles Fluid Drain & Refill

Belts

  • 5 Years Serpentine Replace

Transmission

  • 30,000 Miles Automatic Transmission Fluid Drain & Refill
  • Differential
  • 30,000 Miles Fluid Drain & Refill

Brakes & Assemblies

  • Annual Drums, Rotors & Linings Surface Sand, Degrease, Inspect & Replace as Necessary
  • 3 Years Fluid- Conventional Type Bleed System

    Wheels/Tires

    • 6 Months Tires Rotate, Inspect & Adjust Pressure
I will throw this in as well...……IMHO,
    1. Nothing substitutes a periodic flush of the radiator and when I drain the coolant, I place a doubled up paper towel over the funnel which filters to less than 3 microns (much better then any of the inline filters)- in terms of contaminants, the coolant is now as clean as when it came out of the original bottle. Provided it meets all the other test I do, it is reinstalled in the vehicle. I have installed a magnesium anode in all overflows (same electrolysis protection used per code for all underground tanks keeping the ph of the fluid neutral. The inside of my cooling system and related components is spotless- literally! I check the ph (using a swimming pool kit) - and check the alcohol content using a conventional coolant bulb type test device. If everything checks out the ok...I just refill the system with the existing fluid.

Spark plugs...I change them out about every 40k miles with new spark plug boots.

Excellent! Thank you.
I have read in various places that it would be good to replace the timing belt at 100k. Any merit to that?

All the f150 engines are going to have a timing chain instead of belt.

he might mean fan belt.......... 6 years old is not a lot on the fan belt, but a good inspection is in order... at 8 years or so you might change the hoses and fan belt. Rubber gets hard and starts to crack when it gets old.

Good maintenance and diligent inspections will keep you going for a long time. My old 2001 was at 214,xxx miles when I sold it in 2011 and everything other than routine maintenance- hoses, belts, everything- was still factory. Fluids, plugs, filters = replace. Everything else inspect & replace as needed.
