Do yourself a big favor and look into Diode Dynamics LED offerings. I have no financial interest. Just looks like a legit company that's not just pushing a brighter bulb. AND they are DOT legal.
BUT first. Take the time to properly adjust your headlights. They come from the factory "close enough".......... Same as front end alignment. Neither is great from the factory. Once I adjusted my headlights, they were 100% better. I'm still running the stock factory halogens after 86K miles.
In my view, we have DRIVING LIGHTS, not FOG LIGHTS. Driving are white. Dogs are amber or yellow. Factory white lights provided in the bumpers or lower valance today are useless in heavy fog or snow. They are only good for driving.

We replaced our halogen bulbs with these (there is a slightly different part for the high beam). They use about 1/3 the power (16 watts versus 55 watts), and more than twice the light (2500 lumens versus 1000 lumens), and are pure white 6000K. They don't use any fans and fit inside the housing without any modifications whatever. Very easy to do, and make a stupendous difference.
I use these also, as well has the H11s in the fog lamps. A little more expensive than many on Amazon, but they have been tested and work. I have been using them over a year and no problems in my 2017 XTL.
I did the Halogen bulb upgrade including parking lights yesterday. Last night driving home I tried the new lights. Very pleased with the outcome. I turned on the fog lights for the first time and I am impressed how they light up the shoulder of the road. All in all a very worth while upgrade. I used a Dremel with abrasive wheel and a tool (looks like a drill bit) to modify the bulb fasteners. Youtube has several demos on how to do this. I removed the entire headlight assembly so I could work standing upright and see what I was doing. This procedure is also clearly explained on a couple of youtube videos. This was actually a fun project with the expected outcome. I did buy a spare set of fog lights incase the H11 melts the lenses.
I asked Headlight Revolution :"These all seem to be rated for my truck. which is best? Are they DOT approved?
2018+ Ford F-150 SV.4 LED (Low Beam) -->2630 lux
GTR Lighting CSP Mini LED Headlights, H11 / H16 Bulbs -->2,500 Lumen
2018-2019 Ford F150 Ultra 2 LED Low Beam Bulbs -->3350lm"
This was there response:
"No aftermarket LED drop in bulb will be DOT approved. In terms of performance the Ultra 2 bulbs will be the best output possible from an LED bulb."
Just updating this post with what I have found. Still trying to decide what is the best light upgrade without blinding other drivers.
I’ve seen many F150 now with LED bulbs in them. They look and perform well. When you go online and look at cutoff patterns, the OEM housing performs well with them.
And once again, aim the headlights before you do anything. They are either pre set before assembly, or not adjusted at all. Made a huge difference in my truck, enough to keep the factory bulbs. I drive dark, hilly, deer infested roads. I even had a porcupine waddle out in front of me last week, that is one hard to see animal at night!
However, when the OEMs go (they’re beginning to dim now after 4 years) they will be replaced by LED.
Have you found in your experience the lights aimed to low? Thats what Im noticing with mine I think. Its not throwing the light far enough down the road cause they are aimed lower than need be
Yes, they were way too low. After I leveled it, they were slightly high. After about 3 adjustment attempts, I got them just right.
Kinda what I figured too. Last truck I leveled fixed my issue as it too was to low from the factory. FWIW I have always ran the sylvania extra vision lamps which are slightly brighter and had good results
People dont know what bad lights are till they drive an old bullnose F series or a sealed beam E series..driving with brights on people donrt even flash ya cause the brights are as bright as most peoples regular lights!
Why guess with Amazon. Try F150 LEDs or Headlight Revolution. Both have bulbs available that are tested and proven in the OEM housings. They’re more expensive, but you know they’ll fit and function correctly.
