Does a kit exist to convert our t-case's lo gear to 4:1? I want to increase the crawl ratio without going to a taller ring and pinion. I right now I figure my crawl ratio is around 28:1, which isn't great.
1st gear - 2.84:1
Lo gear - 2.63:1
Rear end - 3.73.1
its a chain drive unit - BW4406 - and I can't find too much for it. There is a BW4407 that has a slightly lower output gear...2.69 vs the 4406's 2.64.
I found some items from Gearvendors but the price was around 3k...
Guess there isn't too much out there. Thanks for the info though

We go camping quite a bit in the Sierra Nevada here in California. There's a lot of access and deer trails, but there's also a lot of granite boulders and steep mountain trails. Also, I'd like to take my son across the Rubicon Trail before he's off to college. Maybe Moab in Utah.
Not trying to make a "Rock Crawler" out of it, but would like to make it as capable as possible.
I'm also looking for a good winch bumper, or a mount that'll allow the winch to be tucked into the gap behind the stock bumper.
Your not taking the F150 very far on the rubi. I wouldn't worr6about a lower crawl ratio.
Yeah, was thinking about just parts of it and maybe taking a few of the bypass trails, but since this is my only truck I'll probably just stick to the fire access roads we are used to.
Honestly I'd do a doubler if you really want it. Pretty sure Ford is still using the round 6-bolt pattern in these trucks, no? If so, a 203 range box will bolt right up with a 205 behind it. It'll be heavy so you'll need to custom build some crossmembers to take the weight.
Some guys have put together some BW doublers, too, and again they'd also bolt up and be lighter with composite cases, but last I knew all the BW stuff was homebrew.
I don't think you're stupid for wanting to do this, but it'll be a good bit of work. Most people never fully appreciate gear reduction like they should but I'd welcome it on ANY rig I ever put in 4lo, personally. The first time I put my Rubi in 4lo with a 77:1 crawl ratio I was just grinning ear to ear - - - compared to my old FS Bronco with 39:1
The average driver never understands gear reduction and just loads up the torque converter 'til the vehicle moves.
