Wow I would have thought yours would be pretty snappy John even with your stock engine . I hope mine isn't sluggish as I have 3.43 gears and 28" tires . My engine is built for low end and I did use a torque converter for a heavier truck ( slightly higher stall ) .

It's plenty peppy once it's rolling but I don't find it all the quick from a dead stop like my panel, but neither one is a light vehicle either....

Among the improvements in the 4R70W's over AOD's was a lower 1st and 2nd gear to give better snap off the line. They are much better trannies by all reports.

Yes even the aode has some heavier components but this also requires a controller of some sort which would be far more $ than a set of gears .
