Would like to add these Rock lights to the bottom of my mirrors. My mirrors do have a defrost function and they are a manual fold in and out.
Is there a power wire that I can tap into in the mirror section so the puddle lights come on when you unlock the doors or open the doors? I know there's power for the blinker and turn signal. But I dont want the puddle light on all the time.
I have a 2019 F250 XL with the STX and tow package. The mirrors are only heated and power control, but not power retract or fold. Is this similar to what you have?
I know that when you look at the options for the XL, they say that it's not an option for puddle lights or the power retract/fold option. I also wonder if we can wire a puddle light by jumping power from another source and running it up there...as well as running power up there for power retract/extend mirrors back to an upfitter switch.

my mirror setup is just like yours.
meed to find source that turns puddle lights on when you unlock or open the door.
Finally figured out how to add puddle lights. After reading an in depth article on here about adding under lights to the truck, I found that my truck has the harness/ plugs for the motorized running boards on the frame. So the plan is to run a wire from the mirrors to the plugs on the frame.
The puddle lights will turn on when you unlock the door or open it and turn off when you lock or close the door.
With that being said, has anyone ran a wire like I need too?

I used this connector that is mentioned in the thread and it slid in pretty snug, but worked. Metra 72-5600 Ford Speaker Harness 1998-UP The wires are reversed though...so the hot is black and the ground is white.
I'm running the power to a step down converter to power a NodeMCU so that I can control an LED strip with individually addressed LED's. This allows me to run the lights under my running boards or under the truck and make different light patterns when the doors open and close.
Let me know how you got the wires into the mirror and got them to not snag or hang up when you extend or retract the mirrors.

All 3 of my SDs 17, 19, 20 have a 'puddle' light underneath. I am betting there is a junk yard with a wrecked SD that you can get them and I would bet the wiring it already there. Now they are switch activated, wish they did come on when you opened the doors...

I took the inside plastic piece off and exposed 2 bolts and the harness. I unscrewed the nuts but the mirror was not budging. I didn't want to put to much pressure on it so I put it all back together. I need to get ahold of a diagram. This seems simple enough.
Just took the mirror off. Good luck trying to fish a wire down the door and into the electrical grommet that connects the door to the truck. Taking the mirror off was simple thanks to H20! But for me this seems like it is going to be a more PITA than what its worth. Running a wire through the mirror seemed easy, but the door issue $*@(%&^)@!$)#@ LOL
Ive seen several threads on here where folks put the LED strip under the truck on each side and it does a good job illuminating the ground. I think Im going to go that route and I wont have to fish any wires. The plugs I need are right there on the frame.
H20, where do you get these files from?
