I found that our infamous $0.50 mod can still allow the UVCH connector to come unplugged ‘a little’. This is normally not a problem - but sometimes it’s enough to lose connection.
By adding a zip tie ($0.01 each?), we can insure the connection stays TIGHT! I’ve been doing this for several years now and it works perfectly.
I did not insert the $050 when I replaced my harnesses about 5 years ago, but since I need to get under the covers again anyway, I'll have to take a gander at doing this proactively.
I was only under a VC once, to see what for GP's were in there and I noticed that my connectors had a big gob of some kind of RTV holding them together. I didn't mess with them and I haven't had a hiccup under there yet.

The ‘new style’ VC/UVCH seems to have better retention than the originals. I cough up the $0.52 anyway because I’d be pissed if I had to go back under VC for that!

I’ve often wondered if there was a glue/sealant that would survive in that environment. So far, I’m not willing to risk some gob of goop falling off and eventually plugging oil pick-up screen (or worse!).
The zip ties stay in place and do not provide any opportunity for connection to loosen.
When I replaced mine I did the $0.50 mod mainly for nostalgia. One side got a 2001 KY quarter in honor of the year it was built and at the Louisville truck plant. Other side got a 2018 CO quarter for when and where I got the Excursion
