Full hose pressure from the city water is what I did. It is now a part of periodic maintenance along with EGR valve inspection, coolant flush, fuel filters. I'm doing these about every 20-30K miles. I'm doing tranny flush and filters along with transfer case and differential every 50-60K. So far the oil cooler flush seems to be keeping things cleared out based on ECT/EOT Temp deltas. Filters, fluids and o-rings are cheap compared to repair shops and vehicle down time.

Anyway, why wouldn't you want to reverse flush the cooler? Next time I do mine I am going to switch to ELC.

I did mine about a month ago. I used city water pressure and also installed an air line into a Y, it was only 1/4 inch hose for the airline and hit it occasionally with 40 psi without any issues. I also poured in CLR twice, let it sit about 20 minutes and flushed it out. Worked great... Did you buy the adapter that mounts to the top of the engine?

Just a heads up. If you have extra high water pressure keep the pressure into the cooler (guessing here) below 50 PSI and you should be safe.
If your getting up into 60 or more you really should be using a regulator.

I was thinking 50 psi was the max. Yeah i bought the kit on ebay, nice looking unit, going to clean the turbo at the same time, that wire loom that goes over the cover looks like a pain so im hoping with turbo out of the way it will be a lil easier. . Thanks for the help.

I was looing up that info last night and the average household pressure is 50 PSI.
Well that is what Google found and because it's on the internet it MUST be true.

Not a problem even with the turbo on, but get the screws out of the way before you pull the cover...

I pulled the one turbo pipe, and used a rachet set like this. The bolts are T30, there are 2 of them.

Just what my backflush kicked out. Delta has gone up since I last did it, now to see what I get out this time. I now have a coolant filter which has pulled a lot of stuff out so be interesting to see what's in there.

I also put in a coolant filter after I did my back flush too. My kit came from EBay, and was $36/ shipped. Came with 3 filters total. Works great, looks the same as the sinister kit

Just make sure they are not the pre-charged filters.

My 6.0 got new headgaskets, new EGR cooler and a new oil cooler at previous owner because the engine overheated. The cooling system was apparently not flushed. What I could not yet "scientifically" prove is the question, why overheated engines produce a red powder, which turns into a kind of slime in the system. I have not yet discovered this with engines that had not overheated.
I backflushed the system and installed a bypass coolant filter. It was frightening what it was still filtering out despite of the flushed system. After most of the dirt was filtered, I installed the IPR inline filter in combination with the IPR GEN3 EGR delete. I flush the filter at every oil change (3000-5000mls) and now I have only small dirt particles in the system.
