I have had several liners, linex, rhino, DIY, plastic, ford oem, ram oem, and now will be doing the bedrug. As for toughness, linex hands down is the best, followed by rhino. I have also done bedrug bed mat over top of the linex in my last truck. bedrug is pretty tough, so we will see with this one when spring hits and it is nice enough weather to put it in. In the meantime, I will be just putting down a rubber mat....

Boom. You just proved my point (even with your overly-deflated "we don't pay MSRP" number). So the Line-X is a much better product, with a lifetime warranty, for the "same" price.

You also twisted everything in your reply to benefit your side of the argument...

Ford's bedliner option for 2020 is now $595 for the 8' bed FYI.

I have the spray in bedliner and an OEM rubber bed mat. It's a great combination that works well for me.

I've done Line-X three times, Ford once, and will be putting a bedrug in the '20, with an American Work Cover from Truck Covers USA over it. It's been about a decade since the last bedrug, and I really enjoyed that liner. It took a harsh beating then and still looked like a million bucks, hopefully that remains true now. The ford liner has been fine, the tops of the bed bolts all chipped off, so now it looks like a line-x (hahaha). I really can't tell much of a difference between line-x and Ford, they both seem fine. I've slid some heavy, jagged material into the bed over the Ford liner without issue. Maybe I got a good one.

$595 * .85 = $506. Again, nobody pays MSRP. So, it's not a $595 bedliner. It's closer to $500.

The rest isn't twisted. It's math based on how financing works. You suggested the act of financing would actually tilt the scales in favor of the Line-X. But yours was an apples-to-oranges comparison wherein you compared financing the Ford liner with a cash payment for the Line-X. That actually ends up being the unlikely scenario.

In practice, if you finance, you will have some mix of cash down payment and a loan principle. And, if you decide to buy Line-X (or other accessories) outside of the truck deal, there is a consequence to doing that. That consequence is that your down payment decreases (as you siphon off cash for other purposes) and your loan principle increases. The net result is the opposite effect that you claimed. Financing doesn't close the gap between the Line-X and Ford liners. It widens it. Not by much (only $20).

But, your assertion that financing the Ford Liner makes it more expensive isn't correct. Math proves that out. That's the beauty of math ... it doesn't lie, it isn't based on my opinion, and it doesn't care about either of our feelings.

I've done my own Raptor spray in on 2 trucks. Price was right and it's good stuff, but man I hated the prep work. I've also had drop in plastic with rubber bed mat and a complete Bedrug in the past.
This time around I picked up a brand new Ford plastic liner for cheap and went with a Bedrug bed mat and tailgate protector. Works plenty good enough for my uses.

I've had a Line-x in my '97 F250 PSD for about 10 years. Looks about as good as the day it went in.
Ford doesn't (as far as i know) offer a lifetime guarantee, either. That came in handy for me when a towmotor operator who was removing something from my bed caught the liner and tore a palm sized patch out of it.
I called Line-X of DE and they bumped me to the front of the line ahead of new installations to make my repair on the first day I was able to get down there.
I'll always stick with Line-X for that reason alone.

I’m going against the grain and say drop-in plastic. It’s (generally) thicker than the spray stuff, easily replaceable if something goes catastrophically wrong, and most importantly, unlike paint coatings, it’s got its own stiffness to it, so point impacts distribute instead of dent or punch holes. I also really like the lesser friction of the plastic liners. If you’re using the truck for moving heavy equipment, it’s a lot easier to pull it out on the plastic, and it’s almost impossible to gouge/rip through it doing so.

First of all, the LineX standard liner is a better comparison to the Ford spray in. I paid $536 OTD for Line X standard here in CA. It is less in some other places, therefore the factory spray in could in fact cost more. You might be able to debate the durability of each product, but for the price, the Line X with its lifetime warranty is the better buy.

The less friction is great if your moving heavy equipment. But if you don't want things sliding around in the bed of your truck, it sucks...LOL.

I have a ford factory drop in plastic liner (I think they are made by Pendaliner) with a 4x8 rubber bed mat on top of it. Plenty of protection and works for me. Total cost was around $300.00 So many choices, so little time. I have a spray in liner by line x in my work truck and am definitely not a fan of spray in liners.
