PCM Relearn

Hi all,

I’m going to be installing an AFE CAI and AirAid throttle body spacer on my ‘99 5.4, and I’m just wondering if I need to do a PCM relearn after I install these items to get full effect from them. My truck has the Edge CTS2 tuner and it’s currently tuned, so I don’t know if a reset/relearn would negatively effect that...

The way I think of it, if I do perform a relearn, I need to return the truck to stock file, disconnect battery and do whatever, then load my tune back up.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

There should be no difference because those changes don't do anything for you but spend your money..
The small spacer does nothing in the airflow path you could feel in the seat..
Intake might make a small difference at wide open throttle and 5000 rpm.
I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but think about it.
Good luck.

I don’t doubt that... but I’ve already bought the parts... so should I relearn or not?

Do the TPS relearn and you should be set.
KOEO slowly press the pedal all the way in and release immediately shut key off. Do thos 3 times and yohr good to go.

The relearn involves zeroing program tables.
Then they are rebuilt during many drive cycles according to your driving habits.
A spacer plate will have no effect but a very small change in length.
A TPS sensor will have no direct affect except from your 'foot'.
Air intake no effect for the same reason.
The mass air is fed the same air and samples about 10% of the airflow to generate it's signal to the PCM.
The Throttle body opening controlled by your foot controls the air flow at all points except wide open throttle and engine RPM. You don't drive at WOT.

Whether you do a relearn procedure or not the PCM will relearn. Relearn happens over the life of the vehicle. The procedure is to speed up the relearn, but if you don't do it the PCM will still learn the new parts.
