Exclamation Rollover Accident DTC Codes Galore

I just picked up my first Super Duty. It's a 2017 F450 XL Cab and Chassis with a flatbed. A few options but mainly low end build. Planning on using it for a work truck to haul materials and equipment. The truck has 26,000 miles and belonged to a Fiber Optic company. I think it had a low speed rollover. There's no damage on the front of the truck, engine runs great... I just drove it 1500 miles without trouble. The cab took a little bit of a hit from behind when the rack bent. Seat airbags and Curtain airbags deployed but not the fronts. Needless to say I've got a bunch of DTC codes showing via Forscan.

My main question is does anybody have a sense looking at all these codes if there's one place I can start looking for some simple fix like a loose connector. I inspected behind the steering wheel and behind the E-brake as I've seen described in other posts. Also, does anybody know where ABS Module A is located?

Symptoms:
Steering wheel audio/menu controls non responsive but do illuminate
Turn signals non responsive via stalk but do work via hazards button
Windshield wipers and wash don't work except for max speed does activate via stalk
Hi Beams don't illuminate via stalk

DTCs:
Module: Transmission Control Module
Code: U0146 - Lost Communication With Serial Data Gateway A

Module: Powertrain Control Module
Code: P1934 - Vehicle Speed Signal
Code: P1637 - CAN Link ECM/ABS Control Module Circuit/Network
Code: U0121 - Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A
Code: U0151 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module
Code: U0212 - Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module

Module: Accessory Protocol Interface Module
Code: U0151 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module
Code: U0452 - Invalid Data Received From Restraints Control Module

Module: Body Control Module
Code: U0212 - Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module
Code: U0151 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module
Code: U0121 - Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A

Module: Front Controls Interface Module
Code: U0452 - Invalid Data Received From Restraints Control Module

Module: Trailer Brake Control Module
Code: U0121 - Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A

Module: Instrument Panel Control Module
Code: U0121 - Lost Communication With Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A
Code: U0151 - Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module
Code: U0212 - Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module

Module: Global Positioning System Module
Code: U0140 - Lost Communication With Body Control Module
Code: U0422 - Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module

Had the same issue on a rebuild job. 2016 F150. No airbag Deployment crazily but the light is on, still on. I have someone that can reset it, need to take it in.

Anyway, they fixed it by disconnecting and reconnecting everything when taking it apart and reassembling it. I would do that yourself to see if you can get the dash stuff to work yourself. There is a connector at the rear of the frame that causes tons of problems even on non damaged trucks.

Find out who bodyshops in your area send their vehicles to (upholstry shop most likely) that redoes the airbags. You can get take out seats off Ebay maybe cheaper, let them plug them in.

I did 2 low mile F150s and almost did a cab and chassis. So I have some knowledge, but I would check into resetting the airbag light before plugging in seats with new airbags. I would ask around.

Thanks Joe.

Do you know if the places to start would be...

under the steering wheel
cabin fuse panel
under the hood by the cab on the passenger side
rear frame connector

am I missing any?

Under the truck, door(s), back of the cab. Look around.

isn't the main airbag sensor box under the center console? I thought this had to be replaced or reset after bag deployment?

Is that interior picture the way you drove the truck? With the bags deployed? Just a warning, back when my mother ran the office for a body shop, she was informed that deployed airbags had to be disposed of as hazardous waste. As a side note to that, my father, who was a Paramedic, was never informed about that, despite the fact they used to cut airbags out of the way all the time to get to crash victims, but a little research and he was able to corroborate what my mother was told, and then passed the warning around to all his fellow EMTs.

I've heard that, I removed all the deployed bags before driving it and did some vacuuming in the cab. Lots of ventilation with the rear window out : )

Does anybody have a diagram that shows where all the control modules are located? I'm curious about the ABS and Airbag Modules in particular.

Thanks

It seems clear that one of your communication buses has been knocked out... The unfortunate part is it's a bus, meaning the same set of wires runs all over. So it could be multiple places. I'd focus on areas that were disturbed either by damage from the accident or airbag deployment.

The dealer would.

I would look for obvious stuff and take it in. You may chase your tail to save a few hundred dollars.

The guy that did mine does a lot of these aluminum fords for Municipalities and Construction companies.

The codes are very similar to what pops up when battery power is disconnected. Did you clear them with ForScan? If so, did they come back?

Your other issues (high-beams, turn signal and steering wheel switch) would seem to point to issues with the turn signal switch and/or wiring in that general vicinity inside the steering column. Maybe those were damaged when the side airbags blew?

RESOLVED

Well I happy to report it was simpler than simple. I hadn't mentioned that I had my headliner and upper console out. I just got the replacement in the mail and pretty much every code went away immediately once I connected that into the harness. I have a few airbags deployed so that and the Code: B1193 - Crash Event Storage Full and Locked are showing but all of the steering wheel controls work again. I'll probably send my RCM unit in to get cleared unless someone can inform me on how to work that out on my own or using Forscan. Thanks for all the help so far

Glad you got it sorted out, that’s a nice truck are those the vinyl seats? They don’t look bad, are they comfortable?
