The CASTING DATE CODE will be somewhere on the cyl head. I am not that familiar with inline sixes to say where. Once you discover that, it will give you a better time perspective.

So, how do you get those dates? I read somewhere the EBP was casting for 223 from '54-'59. B for fifties if I recall. And head, C for sixties, 0 for 1960. A for model, Galaxy. Please explain the specific dates and how to read them. There is so much conflicting info out there I am really confused.

The DATE CODE URL I posted earlier above gives you the changeover. The system I was thinking was correct is slightly different and was used earlier.
Prefix EBT ID's the engine block casting (that particular casting mold anyways) as 1954 (first year of 223). As the mold(s) are updated, you go by the DATE CODE to narrow down production date. Suffix L will ID either the progression of original design or another engine design altogether.
OK, on my computer I could read the info you linked. On my phone earlier not so easy. If the truck was made in April 1959, motor was swapped sometime in it's 60 year life? And, I will be safe ordering gasket set for 1960 223.
Thanks. I can compare part numbers for gasket sets f350 vs galaxy. I would think they would be the same. When I was researching y-blocks the only difference was the thermostat cover outlet was angled instead of straight up. Think motor was the same.
