So I usually drive with the favorites screen on and have fuel mileage on. One I like to see. Just got this 17 light used like new no mileage truck. Hooked boat up to put in water on the lift for the winter. Now every time I get in the truck it defaults to the tow status screen. I go to favorites and select fuel mileage and then turn truck off same thing? Why is it doing this? Says trailer disconnected if I do a light check.
Go to towing menu and select no active trailer. Common problem.
lots of posts on this When you unhook from a trailer you have to go to "select trailer" then select "no active trailer."
Just one of those glitches that make no sence

Weird. I have dealt with this as well in the past. If I stop the truck and turn it off prior to disconnecting the trailer, I will get the tow screen when I start the truck up after the trailer is physically disconnected (even though that was not the screen it was on prior to disconnect). I have found I need to physically disconnect the trailer while the truck is running...then when I turn the truck off and restart, the screen will default to whatever I had it on the last time.
My truck has never had this problem. I can unplug the trailer at anytime and not have it default to the towing screen. However, my dads f150 does like described above. Have to disconnect the trailer while the vehicle is on or it will default to towing screen. Weird glitch. Some trucks do it, some don’t.
Funny, but I don't have to do that with my truck. Once I unplug the trailer, it defaults to whatever I had up last (usually the speedometer)
I've seen several posts telling people to unplug the trailer while the truck is still running to eliminate the trailer screen problem. I hook and unhook a trailer several times a week with the truck shut down. Never get the trailer screen when I restart the truck.
The problems were when I had two different trailers stored in the computer to keep track of tire mileage. If I didn't select "no active trailer" after unhooking one I would have the trailer screen at startup. I was always forgetting to switch trailers in the computer anyway so the tire mileage thing became a non issue. I just deleted all of the trailers and never had the problem again.
That was on a 2017. Since I bought a 2019 I've never had a trailer stored in the memory and have never had the trailer screen at startup problem.
