I don’t like the automatic start/stop feature and will most likely disable it each time I start the truck by pressing the button on the dash. But that will be hard to remember until the engine shuts off each time. As an alternative, I saw a video where a ‘trailer wiring test plug’ was inserted into the trailer connector. This disabled the automatic start/stop because the truck thought a trailer was connected. Other than the truck logging all miles as if I were towing, is there a down side to this approach?
There's another way to achieve this without leaving a test plug installed. This will retain backup sensor functionality though you do loose trailer brake lights and would need to plug it back in.
I used this method for a while, then decided I didn't like soft codes being set so I bought an autostop eliminator from here: https://www.autostopeliminator.com/
There are a few discount codes floating around to knock the price down a bit.
I opted for the jumper and didn't break any clips like "deskman" said.(must sit at a desk and not be a "car" guy) Unbelievably there have been a few times it actually didn't work and the truck went into start/stop engine mode with no explanation. On the next restart it was OK.
I do like the idea shown and if it wasn't for me saying WTF when my trailer lights didn't work or not being able to bend over at 75 to plug it back in...Thanks for the info.
PS: I couldn't live without back up sensor now either....
Auto Stop Eliminator gives you the option to use it if you want and doesn't affect the BMS. If you're OK with the price it's the best option. https://www.autostopeliminator.com/
No backup sensors is a show stopper. I got tired of pressing the cancel button on my 2005 while backing up the 5th wheel so I disconnected the sensors. Sure enough, I backed into a light pole which the sensors would have helped prevent. Auto Stop Eliminator sure looks like the perfect solution. Thanks.

As for discount codes, CM25, FBFORD or FBGM might work.
I can't verify any of these however at it looks like you need to go through checkout. Be sure you pick the correct model. I'd steer clear of the OBDII one and get correct one for your button configuration.
If the simple mod in the video doesn’t affect the BMS, why spend or waste the $100.00 dollars on the Auto Stop.
You loose trailer brake lights when that's unplugged. Suppose that would be OK if you don't have a trailer or intend to tow. I also found that it does set soft DTCs if that matters to anyone.

Because its the correct way to fix this issue and it allows you to turn Auto start/stop back ON, if you want to use it by just pressing the button. I dislike Auto start/stop (not because of what it does, but how its implemented), but in rush hour traffic, when there is accident ahead of you and the traffic moves 10' and then stands still for 2 minutes and this repeats 50 times before you get by the accident, I always turn it back on. Works good in that situation.

I wouldn’t necessarily call Auto Stop/Stop on a vehicle an issue nor would I say that this product is the correct way to fix this "issue” which is not really an issue at all but I can see how it could be annoying to some if they forget to hit the stock disengage button on every start up.
