Good Morning! Last night I found Ford Truck Zone. I never knew it existed. Seems pretty cool but appears not as active as FTE at least for our older trucks. Seen some of you guys on there also.
I looked at FTZ today. I'm Notalready a member and had forgotten about it. I joined when I had my 1970 F350 flatbed. They had a lot of useful literature, diagrams, and pictures of dealer ads posted. But I haven't been on it for a long time. Not enough traffic! In the 53-56 forum there were only around 15 posts that were from 2019. In the 48-52 forum there were only around 11 posts from 2019.
If I'm not mistaken, it was started by a guy that got kicked off of FTE for persistent rules infractions. He was ticked off and started his own site.

I might be member over there, but haven't checked in in a very long time. I got in trouble here once by trying to refer to a link from over there. I tried pasting in the link and I got some serious "no, no, bad dogs"

Yeah, I remember that. A few of us got our hands slapped. It all started when this board started doing goofing things like adding all kinds of ads even with paid membership, something like that.
Ken started this site with a daily digest that covered all years and models of the Ford trucks and it grew into pretty much what it now. He sold during the .com boom but thought he didn't give a fair deal for all of the work he put into it.
It's both more complicated, and less complicated than what's already been said.
Ken sold FTE to IB around 2007 or so. A few years later, members here get spammed by Ken, using an email list he must have kept from when he ran FTE, telling them about FTZ. Some people go over there. Some people that were banned here (BY KEN!) are invited to FTZ. Some moderators here are asked to join. For some reason, I was not asked
The place turns into, from what I hear, a special (or not so special) blend of what was supposed to have made FTE great on the one hand, but also those who were not even allowed on FTE any more because of the rules - rules originally put in place by Ken.
I have no personal knowledge of why (or if) Ken thinks IB did him wrong. Moderation and policy here at FTE did not change one bit. We just kept on doing what we were doing for years. As a voluntary force, we have our own guiding principles that were sometimes separate from Ken's, even when he was in full control.
It is what it is - FTZ is a shining example of how one man was not what made FTE great
The preceding is my personal opinion, and not a statement made by IB or FTE
