As a side note, yes things are messy and not safe, I'm only running the thing with direct supervision at this point.

Also as said in an earlier post, the plan was to have the boiler tank full of oil with the water pipe run inside to soak the heat up, but after much deliberation I decided to run water in it instead. For safety reasons it is better at least for now. I plan to install a magnesium anode rod inside to prevent corrosion along with some boiler chemical.

Got an actual hot water pump good for 100c.

I tried 2 fuel heating designs, the brass bar on the nozzle, and the cast aluminum clamped on the fuel line.
the nozzle heater didn't work good as it couldn't heat fast enough. It started good but wouldn't keep running.

The line heater is what I'm using now, it didn't work at first because the frame that clamps to the fuel line to support it and the electrodes was stealing heat so I had to insulate it with tin foil. Without the foil I couldn't get the nozzle to 100* even when the fuel line was 250*.

I'm burning used 15w40 and 85w140 gear oil from drilling rigs. Mostly 15w40 but all mixed together. It's really cool being in control of the fuel temperature, you can just adjust it to burn right. I would have liked to not waste 300 watts but for the convenience it's worth it for 150,000btu of heat.

Noticed boiler smoking a little today, and flue temps near 190 instead of around 230. Shut down and restarted and couldn't get it to burn clean. Apparently there was a touch of build up around the nozzle 😏.
Cleaned that off and good to go. Checked the nozzle filter screen and it was pristine. I was kind of surprised; I was half expecting some cooked oil junk in there as I've had the pre heat start temp set at 340*c , but apparently that isn't hot enough to cook the oil any noticable amount.
back to running with crystal clear exhaust now.
