If you wear leather gloves that would help keeping the steering wheel nice. I think its the oils in our hands that cause leather to wear out. Buy a spare steering wheel so you can change it out if it starts to bug you.

Well then, I sure must have oily, acidic hands. Took delivery Jan '19 of a f450 and by August with 15Kmi, the wheel was abraided and losing finish to the extent that it was a warrany replacement. Maybe I just got a wheel that was cut a bit thin or tanned a bit to much. Warm hands though.
The leather on these steering wheels are thin and not very durable for sure. i think it's a combination of oil and dirt, maybe the soap you use to wash your hands. It could be a number of things causing this. I try to put my hands on different parts of the wheel but i find my hand at the top most of the time. So far mine is ok but kind of shiny. I only have 65,000 so time will tell.
