Melting Steering Wheel?
Man, it's been a HOT summer!
My poor old steering wheel feels like it is stuffed with peanut butter - all mushy feeling and starting to get baggy around the top half of the wheel.
Short of covering it up, does anyone have similar problems or solutions?

My 89 Aerostar was the same way. I just got a steering wheel cover and that problem is gone. I know what you mean though. It would kinda be like a thick slime type thing. Kinda gross!

I had that happen to me (94 aero ext). Black goo (like tar)started seeping from beneath the leather wrap on the steering wheel. No matter how much I cleaned it off, it always cme back. I finally cut it off, cleaned all the 'tar' off (what a mess, I had to use gasoline!) & put an aftermarket cover on it. Now it is fine.
P.S. I live in Florida, so maybe that contributed to its demise.
