Have any of you had problems getting the brake controller setup properly on a 2019 (F350,SRW, Peasant truck). I’m having issues with the brakes locking up when pulling my fifth wheel with my new 2019. To eliminate wheel lockup I have to turn the gain setting down to 2, but at that setting the brakes don’t hold much. If I set the gain higher I get wheel lockup when braking moderately. The brakes on this trailer work well when hooked to my 2016 (no longer have) and with my 03 (which I still have). Just pulled from Charlotte to Destin and messed with the settings (gain and brake effort settings in dash menu) all the way and cannot get good (smooth braking) and avoid lockup. Trailer is a 2016 with a loaded weight of 12K. I upgraded brakes on trailer a couple years ago (7K brakes on 6K axles) and they have worked well since, just not with this truck. Thanks in advance.
I haven’t had to do this but I saw this on another thread a while ago. I believe there is a low, medium and high setting in the instrument cluster for the trailer brakes. Maybe look under towing settings when you have the trailer hooked up. I’d assume you are medium and need to be on high to have your brake controller to be set at around gain 6 or so. Please inform back as I am curious and won’t be around a trailer for a few months.

i have tried all 3 settings. They don’t seem to have much effect at all, and do nothing to prevent wheels from locking (tires will smoke on all 3 settings at any gain setting over 2. Thanks though.
Have you confirmed you the proper brake type selected? You can chose Electric or Electric over hydraulic depending on what your camper has. It does make a difference on the output of the brake controller.

yes. Even considered trying electric over hydraulic (for electric brakes).
