trailer brake controller required ?
this may be a obvious question, but i'm going to be renting a 6x12 enclosed trailer coming up soon that has trailer brakes, i'm wondering if i should buy a brake controller ? (can i get away without using a brake controller?) I will only be traveling about 12 miles with the trailer in tow.

In MN State law requires to have brakes working on trailers with a GVWR over 3,000LBS; without a brake controller the brakes would not function on the trailer. So you may want to check with your state to see what is legal to do in your state. You would probably be fine, but if you were to get into an accident and you were suppose to have brakes working you may be opening yourself up for some liability damages. Just a thought?
