5w40 year round, doesn't matter what diesel.
Don't worry about brand name much, any decent quality oil is fine.

I’m running 15w-40 with no issues but it doesn’t get much colder than freezing here and not for more than a day or two.

I run T6 Shell 5W40 synthetic year round and have not had any issues.

Good to see another Canadian member. I am only about 4 hours away from you.

Use this too after they stopped selling mobil TDT around here. Fired up fine at 0F in the alps and settled down real quick.

I would also recommend adding Archoil AR9100 to your oil...your injectors will appreciate the love and you should notice a difference within 100 miles or so!!

I run Motorcraft SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil year round in Alaska and am very happy. My alternate choice would be Amsoil SAE 5W-40 Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil. If operating with temps below -20 Degrees F (-29 C) I would use Amsoil SAE 0W-40 Signature Series Max-Duty Synthetic Diesel Oil. Good luck, Russ

What town are you in Rob?

I use Chevron oil, but not because it's better than other brands, I get a good deal on it, and the bulk truck pulls right up to the shop, and pumps it off into my tanks. The same truck also brings me bulk DEF, cases of washer fluid, and drums of gear oil and antifreeze. If I got as great of service somewhere else, I might switch brands. The same oil goes into all the semi trucks, and heavy equipment, not just light duty diesel engines like pickups.
