Just got a 1.23 carburetor with manual choke. Anyone know where the return spring could/should mount other than my jerry rig position?
There’s not a spring mounting hole (short of drilling one) like the auto choke carb had (2nd picture).
Thanks
Sam

I also switched to a straight throttle linkage. I have my spring off the lower end of the carb throttle which pulls back to the rear. Its attached to a small "L" bracket that is bolted down where the old trapeze throttle linkage used to attach.
1browski, thanks for the tip! I did what you’d suggested and bought a longer spring and mounted it on the cab.

I have a 71, 302, I have a zigzag looking bracket bolted in hole close to distributor. I think I see a hole in your photo that is for bracket !
Photos are a little confusing, the one with the red dist, I see hole for bracket.........
In my experience this positioning of the return spring causes the throttle shaft bore to wear out. The combination of throttle linkage pulling against the spring increases the load on the shaft in one direction.
Use the spring to pull against the linkage rod itself.
