I have checked the laws, and my vehicle is 25 years old so I can modify my exhaust, so long as I have at least one cat and am not also I want to do the cutout just purely for fun. When I'm messing around in a field with my buddies, i'll open her up. When I am driving to school or just running errands, I'll close her and it will be nice a quiet. What I plan on doing is not touch my first cat, I'll just get rid of the second cat and replace it with a straight pipe and put the cutout in that, and not touch my muffler. I'm not sure how it sound so I plan on making nice and clean cuts for my second cat and clamp on the straight pipe, and if I don't like it I will put the cat back on and figure something else to do. I haven't messed around with exhaust systems much so I'm really just learning as I go. I really appreciate the responses.
When I got my truck last year, the exhaust was gone from the last cat back. No muffler or pipe and it was not loud at all.
Yeah, my buddy chopped his off right at the first cat. Its certainly no v8 but, it's more fun than the stock exhaust. LOL. There really isn't a way to sound a 300 sound amazing but that's not to say you can't mess around with it.
Thanks!
Yes it will! hahah. Here's the plan. Before the second cat the pipe is 3 inches and after it steps down to 2 1/4. I will just clamp it so I can change it if needed, but im going to keep a 3 inch pipe through my cutout (just going to custom build one) then step it down to 2 1/4. Nothing fancy but it should sound pretty... intresting? whats the word? LOL. Mild steel should hold up for a few years, right?
I'll post a pic when I'm done! Hopefully I can get to the steel yard after school sometime after school this week and if no other jobs come up (I do alot of custom furniture building) it should be done this weekend. Thanks!
