I like the Ford mat, it's heavy duty. I believe Ford has them made that way for two reasons
1. Heavy enough so it fly out
2. The bed is aluminum and it offers protection(we've all seen the Chevy bed comparison)
More than an open, empty bed? Yes. But it's not bad. The DZ mat I have has bumps all over the bottom, so it actually sits just above the surface of the bed allowing for a small air gap, and for water to escape from under it.
My bed is also Line-X'ed, so it really doesn't make a difference to me...
That's disgusting. This is a family-oriented forum, so please keep your sexual deviance to yourself. ;-)
I have a Ford OEM on my F-150. 15 years old and it's doing great. These mats are so heavy that wind isn't a problem. I'm still looking for a good deal on an SD OEM Ford mat, but may go with the $99 Rough Country mat eventually ... I won't pay a $60 premium just to get the embossed SD across it.

That commercial was so called out for its BS that even Chevy stopped airing it. You can find countless YouTube videos on the outright lies made by Chevy in the video to include using different weighted tool boxes and different trucks because the one they dropped the obscenely overweight tool box in, didn't actually tear. They added that later off camera.
New or used isn't the point. You referred to "rubber horse mating." I'm pretty sure that's illegal in some parts of the country and morally reprehensible everywhere ... regardless of where you're from!
I keep waiting for GM's commercials to drive them right back into bankruptcy. From blatant lies to the horrific "real people" campaign, it's an absolute nightmare. Every time I think it's going to right the ship, GM doubles down on more over-the-top, unwatchable, unbearable ads. Ugh. Anyway, here is one good video breakdown of the sack of lies that was the GM anti-Al Bed commercial
So I called Ford to price the OEM mats. They were on back order with no known timeframe. I looked at DZ on Amazon but I have a local speed shop Ive dealt with for many years and I like to support local business if possible. So I bought a Trail FX. The DZs were $85 on Amazon and I paid $90 plus tax locally. Fits fine... looks durable. They all look pretty much the same but for the Superduty OEM units. I quickly waxed the bed and threw it in. So far no indication of any movement on the highway.
I thought this would be a short thread. Turned up a lot more activity than I expected...These things take on a life all there own.
I'm looking at doing a rubber mat, but unfortunately I would have to cut a big square out of the middle of it. I hate things sliding around on the Rhino Liner.

illegal moral reprehensible what in the hell are you talking about? Horse stall matting made from recycled tires is not illegal anywhere I know of maybe in your state it is but not in the rest of America.
People with a sense of humor might
know the difference from rubber horse matting for horse stalls and rubber horse mating that might reproduce a little rubber horse ? ? ? :-)

Looking at TrailFX myself as it's currently on sale at AAP (they don't carry DZ for long bed). Quick question: does it have little dimples on the underside like DZ for water drainage, or is it flat bottom? For those that have OEM mat - does it have flat bottom? Thanks guys.

Anyone do that around their 5th wheel hitch?
Bumping this up to see if anyone has a response. I would like a bet mat of some sort over the Ford spray liner but usually leave my fifth wheel hitch installed during our travel season. I have a Reese adapter for the puck system and I believe the locking cams are adjustable which would allow me to use a 3/8 inch mat and cut holes for the pucks. I also saw on another post a picture of a BedRug with slots cut out for the pucks. I have a BakFlip Revolver X2 bed cover so wind is not a factor if the hitch is not in place. Again, wondering if anyone has done this.
By the way, MBaldo, what brand adapter plate are you using?

I don't have a pic, but I use the Tractor Supply Horse Matting and I just cut out the area where the 5th sets. I took the cover off the goose neck hole and laid down my matt, punched a hole where the goose neck hole was and then jus took measurements, every so slightly on the tight side, installed ,my 5th wheel, placed the matt over it and trimmed for an exact fit...
