Hello,
Been awhile since ive been on the site. Just picked up a new f250crew cab short bed.
Id like to see some pic's or hear some ideas on truck bed storage.
Ive looked through the whole specific forum, but couldnt find anything.
Im looking for probably the best of both worlds, and i dont want a topper / camper top.
My questions :
Is there a retractable tonneau cover that fits in the inside bed rails?
Or a kind that will work with a back rack / tool box.
Im mainly looking for weather tight storage, but a tonneau cover thats more of less out of the way for hauling. Like the back flip ones i wouldnt be able to use.
I see a lot of the decked advertisements. Does anyone have this system? To me it seems like it takes up alot of the bed and may bee too high up off the ground?
Those decked systems make it difficult to slide pallets in.
I have the backflip like above. After a bit of research I’ve found it to be the most cost effective solution. You can eliminate the need for a bedliner too.
I really like my cargo glide, keeps my ancient knees and back from climbing in the back at my elderly age. I loose a little height, but can get to everything. I know a guy who uses one in an open bed too. Uses waterproof lockers/containers bolted to the glide. Just another thought.

Thank you
I have the decked system on my 2019 f-450 long bed
I also have an ARE Z series top cap.
from a utility of use perspective...I decided to use my 3" bumper hitch for towing and pretty much wrote off the gooseneck system the truck has...something to think about.
I havent run into any loading problems...recently bought new washer and dryer and that went right in.
I have some camping gear and a dense matt...still able to craw in and out and sleep on the deck. the HDPE is a less cold to touch than my prior aluminum drawer system.
the space at the end of the bed is my next challenge...looking for a box that will sit flush that I can lock up.
you really have to been down a few journeys and know what you want to decide on a decked system.
If I was moving pallets of water every weekend, wouldnt go the decked route.
from a cubic foot perspective..theirs a company in Canada that sells replacement door steps that turns the area under the door step into lock able storage.that system will run 2K plus shipping but..not sure they have a system for 2017 and newer
Thanks.
maybee looks are deceiving, the decked system seems to me like the draws are small. They say the draw extends the length of the bed but the picks of draws I see look like they extend 3_4 feet.
how much room you have between the decked system and the top of bed rail?.
their spec is 12 inches.
I'd like to do a highway products back rack, and say the decked system, and a tonneau cover
I have the standard ARE fiberglass topper. It adds a few inches of space since I loose 5 with the heavy duty glide. Yep, buckets fit fine.
thank you.
and Joe I feel same way..
huh..
anyone else with experience in the decked style?. I originally hated the idea, but now seems like decked and a tool box isnt a bad idea....would love a cover though.....and dont want a bed topper....I'm ****ed
On the survey chariot, I use a bedslide with a aluminum box with storage compartments for tripod, shovels, stakes, and small items on the top, that is covered with a are commercial deluxe unit topper with toolboxes in the sides.
Fine for a dedicated survey chariot, but you don't have a lot of room except for the area between the side toolboxes from about 6" below the bed rails.
On the batmobile, 2019 6.7 ccsb lariat, i have a truck cover Jr, and am putting in a cargo glide with the gooseneck cutout.
That would allow me use of the bed, as well as keep things dry.
On the cargoglide and bed slide you do give up about 4-5" in depth in the bed.
TruckBoss Sled deck and drawer. Deck holds 2 ATVs or sleds, ramp stows underneath and weatherproofs bed. Overall lose ~6" of bed height - mostly due to the ramp. 4 bolts and the drawer can be removed.
