my tonneau cover

well...since i'm cheap, i decided to make my bed cover instead of buying one...here it is, just got it finished...


making a frame...



sheeted with 3/8 exterior g1s plywood..



then completed with naugahide...an actual tonneau material...

it looks good, right on! my uncle did pretty much just that. but he had built a ledge inside the bed somehow (cant remember) and had it sitting level with the bed rails... it was a green dodge and he used green material... looked pretty clean

tips are cheap...very cheap... i had tossed around a pile of different ideas as where to have it sit...with the bed being very oddly shaped, sitting on top was the easiest...

That doesnt look bad at all with the black on there. Do you have a hinge type system set up on the front?

Very nice indeed. I made one for my truck but it is just plywood painted black with aluminum angle pieces holding it up.

i'll have to think about that...i would like to try a fibreglass one, but that takes a lot ot time...which i didn't have, and i'd like to do one on a straight sided truck. these s'crews are a pig to custom make something for.

Yeah it looks like it would take some time. I guess you could always lay some fiberglass over the wood if you really wanted too.
