After reading the information on FORscan, I cant use it since I have a MAC computer and Apple phone...
On the other hand, I just saw that Best Buy has these laptops on sale for $90! Heck, the dealer wants one hour labor @ $170 to activate the remote start!
I have 1 just removed fromm2018 F-350 XLT LMK if anyone is looking? New truck has factory remote start don’t need it. Bought from fairway ford $100 shipped
Just had my remote start installed today. I went to a local mechanic shop who has the Ford IDS software. Charged me $50 and took US about an hour...... Yes, US an hour! Well, the guy said he's never done one before so it was a learning curve for both of us as I helped him lol.
Anyways, we finally did it and the remote start does work. After getting home and re reading the instructions in the manual, I noticed that a lot of what was supposed to take place didn't during the programming didn't. IE open door, close door, turn key to on and off XXX of times etc etc. Not sure if this means the remote start is half as sed installed or if I am good to go. Since the guy was cool, I wanted a few things enabled while the IDS was hooked up. There were a few features that neither him or I knew anything about. So I figured Id ask here. In regards to these pics, what exactly do they mean? Is this to enable a operator Regen? I now have the screen the shows what % my exhaust filter is clogged at, which is cool.
One thing I am noticing is the truck is starting up immediately after pushing buttons on the fob to activate it. There is no delay for the glow plugs to heat up. when I put the key in the ignition on a cold truck, I get the glow plug icon that illuminates for about 3 seconds.

These glow pigs heat up ridiculously fast. If I have my truck plugged in all night in -40*C weather, the command start delays about 1 second before starting. Definitely not enough time judging by the horrific metal on metal sounds. In that temp I actually walk outside and cycle the glow plugs 3 times to avoid that metal sound 😬
Anyways, if your truck was driven in the last 8 hrs or so, there will be no delay. In -10*C this morning, not plugged in, there was about a 2 second delay. The no to very little delay is normal for your temps down in Florida. 35*F isn’t cold for these trucks
I figured I just reply to you on this one this time. I’ve replied on the other forum a few times lol.
I appreciate the replys
tomorrow morning will be the true test. supposed to be about 38 when I wake up. the truck will have been sitting for about 14 hours.. we shall see
yea sorry. Any reason to choose one over the other?
Its factory and was only $179. so if something goes wrong, I can take it to ford and they cant complain about it being aftermarket incase it screws something up.

yea very true. So 179 plus you need forscan to turn it on?
Question for you all. My 2019 STX has ford pass and I can remote start it from that but my key does not have the start button. Does anyone know if I were to buy a key with the start button and program it to the truck will it start?
