7.3 in cab&chassis

Ive been excited about the 7.3 ever since it was just a rumor now that its here I was let down to see the c&c version is only 350 hp.I was wanting to get an f350 for farm truck and towing camper now im not sure. why detune it so much? Also notice you cant get fog lights on c&c unless you get a lariat when you build one online they are available on a ram tradesman the cheapest model they have.the older I get they are almost a must for seeing at night lol.

In the past, the gas engines were all the same, but measure at different points. The pickups showed max and the c&c’s were lower in the graph. I would be surprised if the 7.3L was different.

The diesels have different components and are different, at full power.

They are the same actual HP, the Cab and Chassis are rated at a lower rpm than pickups with GAS engines. The pickup 7.3 is rated 430hp @ 5500 rpm, the C&C is 350@ 3900 rpm.

Unless it's governed at 3900 RPM, then the theory of simply picking a lower RPM doesn't hold water. The peak HP would be at the governed speed.

Is there something from Ford saying otherwise?

If you look at this graph of the pickup hp curve it also has 350 hp at 3900 rpm. I do not see how the C&C would not have the same performance unless the rev limiter is set at 3900 rpm.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I also notice when on the build and price the cost of the 7.3 in an f250 is about 2 grand and in c&c it is around $1700 and if I’m not mistaken it’s $1700 in f350 pickup too anyone no why they would be priced diffrent?

the ten speed transmission is included in the f-350 base price. The f-250 base 6.2 comes with the g transmission so when upgrading to the 7.3 your paying for the ten speed as well as the 7.3.

It's hard to believe they are available on a F600 and not on a F350. I think there's probably a certain upgrade package on the XLT that gives you these fog lights. Having said that I did notice the fog lights are slightly different on a XLT vs a Lariat.

F550 C&C 7.3 Godzilla Derated HP & TQ

I am interested in buying a new F550 7.3 CC C&C 4x4 with a 84" CA, and mount an aluminum flatbed for a heavy truck camper. I understand that HP & TQ is rated differently on the commercial chassis trucks, but in the end they are still de-rated to approximately 80% (+/-) for commercial users. Is there a simple and cost effective way to adjust ratings back to factory pickup levels without tuning or deleting? If not, what are the best and most cost effective options for tuning, deleting, or using power adders, to regain the missing HP & TQ?

A tuner can adjust the governor and raise the max RPM if you want. To be honest though you get the rated HP at 3900RPM and every bit of torque. If you really need the extra HP above 4000RPM on a regular basis you need a diesel engine.

Is there a max speed governed on a 7.3 in a C&C? Will a tuner return the ECM parameters to the pickup specs? Where do you draw the line between weight loss and tuning?
