What is the best ODB2 reader to purchase for this unit?

Do you have a smart phone? You can use FORScan or TorquePro with an OBDII (bluetooth/wifi) adapter.

I will second the vote for FORScan, but I personally dont care for the FORScan mobile version, I use the PC version only.

I prefer the blue driver app over the TorquePro app. It costs a bit more, but a very powerful mobile scan tool and I find the customer and service support is excellent. It also supports most makes and models, so not limited to Ford, like FORScan. You can order blue driver from Amazon or Walmart
