Thinking of buying this unibody. Was involved in a rollover. Was wondering if the cab part/windshield surround is the same as regular truck. Guess i'm just looking for the best way to fix this. Thanks all!
know from experience , this is a parts truck . you would have to replace the cab and bed which is a massive undertaking . unless you have a shop to do it . I would buy it just for parts and use it for that . the standard 61-63 unibody's are out there and I'm sure you could combine them to make a nice truck.
To answer your question, any top from a 61-66 will cut off and swap with medium metal fab skills. Any body shop could easily fix this. I see absolutely no need to remove the body as mentioned???
There is a slight difference in the cab tops for the 64-66 were more round. 61-63 was more flat. Think I split that right? But structurally they are exact same dimensions if you chose to cut and swap (seen it done). This goes for standard and unibody cabs excluding the unibody optional big back glass, in which you wouldn't have to worry about since your's is standard.
My take on the install, the way I see it the windshield buckled (look at top chrome). And it appears no damage to the actual window frame. Therefore if it was cut and cleaned up on the factory roof install seams it would be an easy fix. Even if discovered to be slightly bent, can still straighten out. The rear glass and frame look absolutely fine. Not even a crack.
But I wouldn't tackle it unless you have the time, get this at a deal worthy to offset and you have the body shop tools and skills or willing to hire it out.
OR! Just do a forbidden to the true blood's on here fix and just kick the top up with your feet, replace the windshield and probably be absolutely fine.
lol thanks for the input. wasn't sure myself why i would have to replace the bed. mostly happy to know which year cabs would work, they still seem pretty easy to find. truck runs, stop and shifts fine, and it has good tires. thanks again!
There is also rot at the base of the A pillar, so that would have to be addressed as well. The general condition of the rest of the truck needs to be considered. Would it be a restore, or just a driver/ work truck? I’m not a body man, but it looks doable if you want to work at it.

Not a restore, maybe just a rat rod. It purrs like a kitten and has new breaks and clutch. Just a shame. He doesn't want to come down from $1000 and I cant find any local parts trucks so it looks like a no-go for me
