If you have neighbors, ask them.

Haha, you've got a point but then again I don't rev my truck. I'm not a big fan of glass packs so do you know any good flow master mufflers? I'll check with some friends to see what they're running on their trucks.

That is not how an O2 sensor works. It is not looking for an overall volume of exhaust gas flow or density. It simply measures the oxygen content of the exhaust gasses present. Does not matter if the volume of exhaust gasses are 5 cubic feet per minute or 1000.

I see the error in which I worded that response. I'm well aware as to how they work I was just curious if it would give me an issue because it can't get the proper reading of the level of oxygen in the exhaust since it was just a y pipe and converted to long tubes with a full exhaust. In the end though, it doesn't really matter about my question above because I'm probably going to run a better flowing y pipe and have side exit with either a flow master or thrush muffler. If I'm real lucky and I've got people I know running straight pipes then I'll do the same.

I've already talked to some friends, they are running straight piped diesels and gassers. I should be okay but might get a thrush muffler.

So I finally had a chance to work Saturday on removing the exhaust. I left cats on as there's no need to remove them. Sometime in the afternoon on Sunday I went out and purchased the pipes for the truck. I got to work on it at about 4:00 and finished at about 4:45, to me that's good time when it comes to getting the piping to fit and get an exhaust hanger setup by cutting some angle iron and bending the hanger. When I get back home today I will take some pictures of what I've done. The only downside is I don't have my mig welder with me at the moment. I will sadly braze all of the piping together, which will take a good amount of time this evening.

EDIT: the exhaust is not near as loud as I thought it would be. It's just right for a straight pipe. I'll upload a startup and it running on YouTube sometime this week hopefully, this depends on how long it takes to braze.

You already answered why it wasn’t as loud as you thought it would be.

I'm well aware, I'm currently using a straight pipe so it evens out properly.

My cats have been punched out at least 15 years, previous owner took care of them. Never noticed any problems, it passed emissions year. Not really any louder than usual.

My cats aren't overheating so I'm fine. I also don't want the truck to be too loud.
