Whenever I'am on this site, my harddrive shows activity every 10 or
20 seconds. It stops if I go to another site and restarts if I come back. I think this has been discussed before. What is happening ?
Anyone else have this problem ? The cable modem shows no incomming or outgoing information during this.

There's nothing from our site. HTML doesn't "do" anything on your computer, its all driven by your browser. Have you checked for infection at www.scumware.com? You system is showing all the signs of having scumware installed (and I know for a fact that some scumware advertisers have targeted our site because of its traffic level).

It's amazing how low some people will stoop for money. One of the Denver news channels will hit you with 158 cookies for a single visit and there are probably some worse ones that I haven't run across. I think the web has become almost as bad as e-mail when it comes to "spam" type activities, it just that most people haven't caught on to it yet.
I use 5 different programs to keep this computer clear of the crud.
Cookie Pal seems pretty good at managing cookies, you can decide which ones to allow.
Popupcop to keep the annoying screens from comming up. It makes a "Pow" sound when it stops one and I once was at a joke site that redirected me a **** site, it sounded like a machine gun for about 30 seconds
For a firewall, I have been happy with Tiny Personal Firewall, version 2.0 is free for home use but it looks like you gotta pay for 3.0 and I haven't tried it yet.
If you want to know how much crap is already on your system, try Ad Aware by lavasoft, it's also freeware. It'll scan your system much like a virus scanner and will create a report of what's there, plus it'll delete them all at once.
I have been using McAfee for a virus scanner, so far so good. If anyone knows of better programs than any of these, please let me know.
I figure I have about 80 bucks invested just to keep out the trash, there outta be a law.

I just got the ad-aware, and it found 5 things it did not like. I recognized the names of them and all were supposed to be cleared from PC automatically. so much for PC web cleanup.. Now, I am clear, but for how long???????

it could just be the fact that your computer is recalling the page, becaause it saves most of it to memory to produce quicker viewing of pages you've already seen.

When ever you enter a page your browser searches the HD for things such as grapics, fonts and other files that are stored in your cashe to help the page load faster. FTE is an grapic rich site, using many grapics on each page. Also each page you enter has other grapics stored within it (such as personal aviator gif's). As such each time you load a new page, surf through the comments, or post a quesiton on one of the boards, your computer is going to search your cashe to load any saved information from that page. If you "park" on just one page your HD should stop searching/downloading after a couple of seconds and remain unactive till you either scroll, or go to another page.
