broken transmission casing
I own a 2000 F250 SuperDuty supercab 4x4 with an 8' bed. My truck also has the 5 speed manual transmission. I bought the truck new and have had it in Connecticut for the last 21 years.
Last week, the ability to shift suddenly stopped. The clutch pedal doesn't feel any different, but obviously, something isn't engaging. The clutch master and slave cylinders aren't leaking (and the reservoir fluid is topped off). So, it could be an internally blown out cylinder or it may be in the clutch itself. However, another problem has come up. While I was under the truck looking at the bell housing (for an inspection plate to see if the clutch plate was still intact - apparently they got rid of inspection covers 30 years ago), I realized the two cast lugs at the rear of the transmission case (which is bolted to the rear cross member) were both broken off. I've never seen anything like this in 40+ years of owning and working on Ford trucks. Has anyone else seen this?
Now the big problem is finding a used transmission and determining what the real issue is with the clutch system.
Any and all comments and opinions are welcome
