Strange noise that I'm getting around 2k rpm. Really bad on cold mornings, doesn't really happen if it's in park or neutral, only in drive. It's not a heat shield, pulley or anything else.....I've checked all that.
I don't hear the noise, but if it does it ON COLD MORNINGS when you first take off........... then goes away after 10 minutes... im guessing alternator bearing has dry grease... Old Alternator ?
Take the belt off and go for a quick drive. If it stops then it's something the belt spins.
Did that previously and just kinda spun each pulley to see if any noise. Didn't do it with it running though. I guess my reasoning was it never does it in neutral or park......it's only when in gear.
Another crazy thing, if I stop the truck, cut it off then back on, the noise is still there, however much quieter and not as bad as before.
