I've heard talk about it being both, that the display has a limited resolution. My friends '15 RAM has a much clearer rear view cam picture than my '19 SD. Lighting also affects the image quality of these cameras. I need to get the recall replacement for my rear view camera and the CSP replacement for my front cam (unless I do it myself). Both have the hazy image issue. The front view more so than the rear. Besides correcting the haziness and supposedly being more UV resistant, I'm not expecting a better quality view.

I replaced my original "abominable" back-up camera with the Technical Service Bulletin replacement a few months ago. I does seem a little better but not up to par with what I see in other car/trucks (or at least that's the way it seems to me).
Delivery is scheduled Dec 19th. May get it installed around Christmas/New Years.
Will have to upgrade my Sync from 3 to 3.4 (from what I know this is required to support USB-C ..... so I may change out some USB ports).
The reason I asked if it's the camera or is it the display is because I ripped out all of my Ford Sync junk and installed a JVC head unit and my backup camera quality got much much better.

I don't doubt it. I have not seen anything that lists the screen resolution of my 2017 8" screen.
But according to the link I provided above it is 117 ppi (800x480) vs 189 ppi (1334x882) on the new screen. Thats a significant display improvement. We'll see ...................
The 360 degree cameras in my 2023 are better than my 2017 was. I think it's the quality of the cameras, not the screens. The screens show a/v graphics really well, Spotify, Podcasts, etc. Whew - lots of complaining about cameras...
I upgraded my Sync 3.0 to Sync 3.4. I used the upgrade tool provided by cyanlab.net
This allowed me to upgrade the dual USB ports in the cubby to the newer USB + USB-C.
Everything works flawlessly. The new Sync and the USB-C port.
The best thing about the entire upgrade is the view of the reverse camera is better than ever. It was never this good new. I have no clue why….. it just is.
(Yes, I have a new upgraded touch screen to put in but have not put it in yet. If it is any better that what I see here I can’t even imagine.)

That doesn't really look any better to me. Same grainy low res quality. Just gets worse as the cameras age. What's the upgraded screen?
To me the free upgrade to 3.4 and the $85 dollar USB-C upgrade is awesome.
Sounds like an upgrade, never seen that before. Price wise it is super cheap compared to other Sync screen replacements I have seen.
Did you notice any charge speed increase switching to the USB-C plug? I thought there have been past posts from those who did it and found no improvement in charge speed compared to the original USB-A charger.

Going to be really hard for me to tell. However, there is another thread (search for USB-C) here where a few indicate that they cannot tell much difference in charge rate. However, someone measured their USB-C and found about a 50% in amps/power which is assumed to provide close to a 50% improvement in charging over standard USB.
