Hello, I have a 2017 F250 CCSB Lariat with auto-start and button entry and am interested in simple security items that work the majority of the time, such as The Club or other wheel locks or devices. I would look at Jimmy Jammers or front door lock removal, but that is a bit more than I want to bit off at this time. Granted that a pro will get your truck if they want it, but what have people done to slow them down or defeat the amateur? I searched for this topic but could not find anything relevant. I live in a metro area where my truck is in a parking structure during the day and more prone to a joy ride than a target for export or chop shop (that I know of).
On a side topic I was going to wire up a fuel pump cut off or similar, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your thoughts.
The club is a 10 second inconvenience at best, they just cut the steering wheel. Wheel locks are about a 5 second distraction. Keeping your insurance paid with a low deductible.......priceless.
One of the systems that makes it an inconvenience for remote start operation is ravelco. I have used them on most of my trucks and am still going back and forth on this one as i love the remote start issue. You can always leave it in if you feel safe wherever you are and remove it if you do not.
Jimmi Jammer, https://jimmijammer.com/ I installed mine, took about an hour for the first door, and about 20 minutes for the second. The hard part is figuring out how to remove some of the panels carefully without damaging them. The second time around its far easier.
As we say in risk management.. risk transfer is easier than risk mitigation or avoidance...
2X on keeping insurance current and low ded.
FWIW, until I joined this forum, I was not aware there were theft issues with SD's, I (ignorantly) assumed I was safe(r) than with my half ton re theft.
A few years ago my 2000 f250 was stolen from my driveway. It was recovered, got it back. Then I bought a club for the wheel. I have it on security footage when they tried to steal it again. Perp got in, saw the club, got out. Went down the street and stole another truck. It may just be a 10 second inconvenience but it made them move on to an easier target. Transferred it to my 2017 dually when I upgraded. Won't leave the truck overnight without it.
