Kill Switch Ideas

I'm wanting to wire in a hidden kill switch that will cut fuel and/or ignition should someone try to take my 2017. Anyone done this? What are my options? thanks

Hi , I am thinking of doing the same but haven't had the time to figure it out yet . My idea was to see about using the hood latch switch going to an upfitter switch . I'm just not sure how it is wired yet . I remember having the engine running (2019 f350 6.7) and I popped the hood and it killed the engine . Seems to me to be a built in kill switch .

Same here. I like knowing the truck is protected by simply removing the magnetic cap when I park, tethering it my Key fob and knowing no one can drive off with the truck.

Ravelco is certainly a consideration. It's around $600-$700 and I don't like having the factory wiring hacked, having a not so attractive device hanging under the dash, having something that is permanent to a vehicle that you can't remove reuse and install on a future vehicle. The way Ford is, although Ravelco says you won't void the factory warranty with their device due to some Magnuson act, Ford will likely blame anything that happens to the vehicle due to any alteration that was made from factory on the Ravelco installation unless the dealership personally had it installed. I think what I'm looking for may not exist or at least in my searches I haven't come across it yet. I would like something that when I leave the vehicle left unattended that I can easily disable the vehicle from being cranked and driven away. Ideally it would be nice to do this electronically such as with a programmer that would program the vehicle via phone app, bluetooth, programmer or some other method. I can alternatively wire in a kill switch and do this manually. I've already figured out how I want to do this, but if there is something out there electronic that someone knows about please let me know.

I have never heard of a single car being denied warranty from a Ravelco installed by Ravelco. You buy a copy off eBay and install it yourself? Your on your own. The fact that Ravelco is the only theft deterrent that allows for an insurance discount in Mexico, says everything I want to know.

Ever heard of a single car being denied warranty from a self installed and removable <$50 kill switch?

Cant say that I have but then again I wasn’t worried about warranty. I was saying your on your own as in for being stolen. The only way one gets stolen with Ravelco is by flatbed. If you think you can out master a thief who does it for a living, have at it. They see the Ravelco sticker and they move on. Superdutys are the number one stolen vehicle in Texas. I’ll protect mine with a proven track record.

So why not just buy some Ravelco stickers add a kill switch and be done for <$100?

I have a Ravelco. The fob attachment is tastefully hidden out of sight so it would be hard to imagine anyone complaining about the aesthetics.

Quality installation is mandatory. My installer took about 4 hours to do it with meticulous work. I doubt the folks at my Ford service department would be able to tell with a careful look under the hood. And the same guys who installed it could take it down if I ever wanted that (I won’t). If I were to ever sell it I’m sure the buyer would appreciate it. I have a lot of aftermarket stuff on the ride, so this was a no brainer. I also have Viper + SmartStart ever since Ford d/c SmartLink. Nice battery-backup Bluetooth siren as a backup to the factory horn alarm. If I only could have one - Ravelco.

Performance has been flawless. I love the peace of mind. I doubt you could get this type of installation quality with a homemade kill switch of any kind.

Why Viper too? You’ve probably got $1500+ in anti theft devices.

Not confident enough in the Ravelco system to just have that?

What’s to stop a Ravelco installer to start ripping off vehicles with the system installed because they understand it and how to defeat it?

I put one on my F250. I put it on the wire that goes to starter with a remote kill switch and a 50 amp 12 volt relay. Very easy to do and truck hasn’t been stolen since.
