Its an iron 3+1 no granny gear. Im not looking for 500+ hp. Id be happy with 350-400 at the crank. I just want something different and i know the 351c is a great motor. I have 2v heads. If i built it id put a small cam, 4 barrel intake, headers, port and polish work and let it run.
We did a few 351C swaps in F-100's and F-150's, it's a simple swap using a 300 six or 302 trans and 302 mounts.
Ran better than a 351 Windsor, it's a shame Ford didn't use that setup in the first place, it was a much better engine than the 351M.
I am new to the forum and not sure I am doing this right to reply to 78Three90. I am like you and trying to put a 351 c in a 1986 f150 stepside. A guy I work with told me about a 351c in a barn on an engine stand that his friend's father in law had. The engine had been sitting there for years and the guy couldn't tell me anything about it except he would take $100.00 for it. His father in law had passed away and nobody really knew how long it had been there. I took a chance and thought it was worth the risk for 100 bucks. I got it home and looked inside the cylinders with a scope and the pistons were shiny and stamped .030 over. the cylinders were shiny with crosshatch pattern. 2V and all stock. When I pulled a valve cover the head was squeaky clean. The engine had never been started. My 86 f150 had a 300 6 that was in really good shape but I thought it would be fun to put the Cleveland in it. Going to be a lot harder than I thought but very doable. Looks like I will need an oil pan with the sump in the back. I can't see any way the Cleveland sump will fit over the crossmember and if it did, it would hit the steering link and tie rods. Any suggestions? Also having hard time finding headers I can afford. Some of the ones mentioned on the thread are $800.00 to $1000.00 and out of my budget for now. Probably use stock manifolds until I can get some headers. Jeg's and Summit don't have the bottom half for the motor mounts but I see where others here are saying 351 w mounts will work. Had to get a new flywheel since it had a flexpate and I am putting an Edelbrock street/RV performer cam in it for off idle to 5200 powerband and performer 4V intake and AVS Thunder series 2 650 cfm. Also upgrading to electronic ignition since it had original distributor with points. Would sure appreciate any suggestions. The 300 6 will be for sale. It has Offenhauser intake and 450 holley 4bbl, DUI distributor, and headers if anyone interested.

As I recall a 351M/400 oilpan will fit the Cleveland. Make sure that intake you're buying fits 2 bbl heads. What Offy intake is on your six ? I might be interested in it long as it's not the dual port
Thx for responding Baddad . Yes the intake is an edelbrock 2750 that converts to a 4bbl but matches the 2v heads. As far as the offy, it is a c series not a dual port. Asking 200.00 New one runs 400.00+

Just to chime in on the Cleveland in the F Series, from an Aussies perspective, the 351 Cleveland was fitted to F100's from 1978 through to 1985. '86 on wards we got the 5.0 litre EFI Windsor. The 351C is a great engine for these vehicles and having had about 6 of them, still have 2, never had any power/torque related issues. As mentioned above, lots of performance options for the Cleveland, as compared to the 351/400M
